Twenty years of abstract work in acrylic, watercolor, oil pastel, crayon, and ink.
Creating art allows me to communicate my deepest feelings to people.

In the spaces between raising her family and helping with her grandchildren, Maria Aguilera has been making art at home in Longview, Texas. The work fits into the moments life leaves open — early mornings, quiet afternoons, the still hours before bed.
She paints abstractly, building each piece from color and shape rather than subject. Her materials shift with the work: acrylics for layered ground, watercolor for translucence, oil pastels for texture, crayon and black ink for line. Every piece is an attempt to express feeling directly, without translation.
The work is aimed at the subconscious — the part of the viewer that responds before the words show up. To draw out the imagination, to reach the inner thoughts of art lovers, and most of all, to touch people's hearts.
The competition is decided entirely by public voting. Daily voting is free and takes about ten seconds. Voting opens May 4 and runs through August 6, 2026.
